Top 5 Games Of The Year

Top 5 Games Of The Year!

With long awaited games released and announced, 2015 has been an incredible year in gaming. Another year means another step forward in gaming, including new technology such as the hyped Hololens revealed earlier this year. But what has made this year definitive is the games. I will be going through my games of the year, based on what I’ve played and watched! So, here are my top 5 games of the year:

5. Rocket League

Rocket League

Since it’s release in July, Rocket League has quickly become one of the most popular games of the year. It’s unique mechanics and striking aesthetics have attracted a large audience. Rocket League is a football game using vehicles which you can design and customise as you earn new parts. The game includes a single-player mode and multi-player mode, allowing you to play online with friends or worldwide. With the new mods added, you can make the gameplay a little more interesting like increasing gravity or increasing the ball size. This is an awesome game to play competitively or for fun!

Available on Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

4. Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker has been the biggest game of the year for sure for most Nintendo lovers.  The game allows you to create your own levels in different versions of the classic Super Mario games including the classic Super Mario Bros. You can add enemies, stars as well as blocks wherever you wish and make the game as difficult as you want it to be. You can even add your own sound effects to the game with The Sound Frog. Super Mario Maker also lets you play levels created by anyone worldwide and upload your own online! Super Mario Maker should be on your list if you like to be creative in games or are a fan of Mario games.

Available on Wii U.

3. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege is a first-person shooter game which focuses mainly on co-op. The game includes different operators with different perks and abilities. You can use drops and cameras to locate your enemies and plan of attack with your teammates. This game has an emphasis on destruction, with barriers and structures that you can break with explosives. Rainbow Six Siege, unlike it’s predecessors,  does not have a campaign mode though does include a single player mode with AI. This is a must play for those who love games like shooters similar to the Payday series.

Available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows.

2. Fallout 4

Fallout 4

Without a doubt Fallout 4 has been one of the most anticipated games in the past year. Since the trailer was released in June, there was non-stop talk about the new instalment. It takes place in Boston in a post-apocalyptic future. You play as the only survivor of Vault 111, exploring the wastelands and completing quests. The game is similar to Fallout 3 and New Vegas with new features such as base building and a more developed dialogue system. As usual, you have a Pip-Boy to accompany you to inform you on your stats and your current missions. If you’re a fan of any of the Bethesda games like Skyrim, Fallout is definitely a game you should play!

Available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam for Windows.

1. Life Is Strange

Life Is Strange

There is no question that Life Is Strange is my favourite game of the year! The incredible storyline combined with the enticing gameplay, makes this my top game of 2015. The game follows Maxine Caulfield, who is a photography student at Arcadia Bay. Her life is turned around when she discovers that she has the ability to rewind time. She has a vision of an oncoming storm that will destroy her town and decides she has to stop it from happening whilst uncovering the mysterious disappearance Rachel. What makes this game so incredible for me is not only the emotional connection you see develop between Max and her best friend, Chloe Price, but how beautiful the game art is and the music that plays throughout. This is a must play for those who love episodic and pretty looking games!

Available PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Steam for Windows.

Overall, 2015 has been amazing for games. Are there any games in your top 5 that I have missed? If so, let us know in the comments or on our social media! I hope you all have a happy new year and 2016 is awesome for you all! Until next time!
